This guide walks you through the process of transferring your domain from StormerHost to your account at StellerHost. The procedure includes verifying domain eligibility, updating contact information, obtaining the authorization code, unlocking the domain, and completing the transfer.
Follow the steps below for a smooth transfer. We also provide information about tracking progress and what to do if the transfer is rejected.
Transfer Tasks
Task 1: Verify Domain Name Eligibility
Before starting the transfer, ensure the following:
- The domain has been registered for at least 60 days and has been with StormerHost for at least 60 days.
- The domain is not in "client update prohibited" status.
Task 2: Confirm Contact Information
The Registrant and Administrative contact information must be up-to-date at StormerHost, as these contacts will receive the transfer request and need to approve the transfer.
Steps to update contact information at StormerHost:
- Log in to your StormerHost account.
- Go to the Domain Management section.
- Select the domain(s) you wish to transfer.
- Click on Update Contact Information.
- Ensure that the Registrant and Administrative contact details, especially the email addresses, are correct.
- Save the changes.
Task 3: Obtain the Authorization Code (EPP Key)
Most domains, such as .com, .net, .org, etc., require an authorization code (EPP key) to authorize the transfer.
Steps to obtain the authorization code from StormerHost:
- Log in to your StormerHost account.
- Go to the Domain Management section.
- Select the domain name you wish to transfer.
- Look for the option to Request Authorization Code.
- StormerHost will send the authorization code to the registrant's email address.
For .uk domain transfers:
- Contact StormerHost and request a retag to the StellerHost ISP tag. Alternatively, you can retag directly via Nominet for a fee.
- Use the Auto Verification transfer method for .uk domains.
Task 4: Unlock the Domain Name
Your domain must be unlocked before transferring it.
Steps to unlock a domain at StormerHost:
- Log in to your StormerHost account.
- Go to Domain Management.
- Select the domain name you want to transfer.
- In the domain settings, disable Domain Lock.
- Confirm the changes.
Task 5: Transfer the Domain to StellerHost
After preparing your domain at StormerHost, you're ready to initiate the transfer to StellerHost.
Steps to transfer your domain to StellerHost:

Log in to your StellerHost account.

Go to Domains > Transfer a Domain Name.

Choose the transfer method:
- Auto Verification (ideal for smaller transfers).
- Fax Verification (suitable for bulk transfers).

Enter the domain name and the corresponding authorization code in the following format:

Set any additional options like:
- Registrar Lock (choose whether to enable or disable after transfer).
- Auto-Renew (opt to renew the domains to avoid expiration).
- Whois Update (decide whether to retain or update Whois information).

Approving the Transfer
Once the transfer request is submitted, the Registrant and Administrative contacts will receive an email from StellerHost.
Follow the instructions in the email to approve the transfer and proceed with the process.
Tracking Your Transfer
You can track the progress of your transfer in your StellerHost account. Status messages will help you follow the transfer’s progress and alert you to any issues that may need your attention.
If the Transfer Is Rejected
If your transfer is rejected, review the ICANN transfer rules to resolve the issues. Common reasons for rejection include:
- Domain lock not disabled.
- Incorrect authorization code.
- Recent changes to Registrant or Administrative contact details.
